This is So Cal Mike and I am here to serve you; the classic video game collector. This site complements our segment on Retrogaming Radio called "Chasing the Chuckwagon". As classic video game collectors and connoisseurs we all know the significance of the Atari 2600 Chase The Chuckwagon cartridge. What was once an extremely bad dog food promotion has turned into a synonym for all of us for finding that one extremely hard to find, in fact, almost impossible to find video game artifact that will be the center of our collections. Or as with this cartridge itself, maybe a not so hard to find memory of days gone by. I don't know about all of you but I had lots of my past thrown out or given away over the years. So we are now left with the difficult task of rediscovering what has been lost through thrift stores and garage sales.
If I were to rely on those means of discovery, I would have gone nuts years ago. But, since moving to sunny and cool, Southern California, my task of rediscovery has been much easier. You see, in So Cal they have swap meets every weekend. And in some cases, every day. Now, think of these swap meets as huge parking lots full of hundreds of individual garage sales and you can see how great this opportunity is for finding classic games.
After scouring these swap meets for the past nine years, I have come across my share of "Chuckwagons". Some of these items were once owned by me and have lots of sentimental value. Others are just plain rare and have been sold to fund my collection. Now, I have reached a point in collecting that has brought me nearly everything I used to have - and that has sentimental value to me. But I still have that urge to find more. And, instead of keeping it for myself, I am making these great deals available to our listeners.
